Cultural Resources, Inc. , helps communities and groups devise strategies for sustaining local culture. Our efforts are based on a process called discovery research, developed by Cultural Resources director Kathleen Mundell.

Discovery research is a way of taking inventory of a community or organization's cultural resources. Cultural Resources enlists community members in the discovery process by showing them, in a series of intensive, on-site workshops, how to:
• identify cultural themes, artists, and arts organizations through fieldwork
• foster connections between artists and arts organizations
• plan and implement festivals, cultural tours, exhibits, and educational programs that nourish cultural activity while enhancing local quality of life.

Cultural Resources has developed the Creative Communities Institute©, a training institute that helps people revitalize local culture and rediscover a sense of pride in place. By teaching the basic principles of cultural inventorying, community organizing and coalition building, we believe this training is an important first step in creating a vision that will guide local cultural and economic development. Through this training, participants gain an understanding of their community’s culture and learn strategies for its sustainability.
